This vintage rug is a fully handwoven piece, tied knot by knot on a village loom by the women of Anatolia who inherited this craft from the generations before them. No printed chart ever guided their hands — the pattern lived in memory, and each weaver brought it out slowly with patience, quiet joy and a deep wish to make something lasting for her home. It is worked in the traditional Gördes (Turkish) double-knot technique, where every knot is wrapped twice around the warp, and this is exactly what makes the carpet so remarkably strong and able to be walked on and enjoyed for many long years to come. The wool pile is dense and naturally resilient, taking real daily traffic in its stride without losing its charm.
