This vintage rug was woven entirely by hand in Anatolia, knotted one row at a time on a wooden loom by village women who carried the whole busy, star-scattered design in memory alone — no printed chart, just skill handed down through generations and quiet wishes for luck, protection and a warm home for the family it would cover. Every knot is the traditional Ghiordes double knot, wrapped around two warp threads instead of one, which is exactly why a rug of this age still lies flat, keeps its shape and takes daily footsteps without trouble: it was made to be lived on hard and handed down, not shut away. The hand-spun wool pile is soft yet tough underfoot, springs back after furniture, quietly hides everyday dust between vacuums, and only grows more characterful with time.
