This vintage rug is a truly handwoven work of heart, knotted one loop at a time by the women of Anatolia who learned the loom from their mothers and grandmothers before them. There was no pattern pinned up to copy — each weaver held the design in her memory and worked it into being with patience, quiet devotion and the small daily rhythms of village life, so every knot carries a little of her story. It is made with the traditional Gördes (Turkish) double-knot technique, in which each knot is tied twice around the warp; this is precisely what makes the rug so strong and lets it be walked on, lived on and loved for many decades to come. The dense wool pile is naturally resilient and forgiving underfoot, handling busy family rooms and real everyday life with ease. It has been professionally cleaned and arrives completely fresh, hygienic and ready to use straight away — simply unroll it and enjoy.
